I was kindly invited to the Business Woman of the Year Awards at the Saatchi Gallery last night. As well as being an astonishingly well put together event, it was buzzing with the sort of energy, enterprise and creativity that is the lifeblood of the United Kingdom.
In uncertain times, it was a real tonic to listen to 5 women unbowed by talk of recession. There is no easy way to chart a course through difficult economic waters, but you just felt that with business women of this sort of integrity and vision at the helm, we would be alright.
So all in all a breath of fresh, which is precisely what Libertas is trying to inject into the whole European political debate. People are tired with old formulas, disillusioned with an increasingly discredited political class and crying out for something new.
That something new is Libertas.
At last a pan-European political instrument to fix a broken Europe.
